Artificial intelligent: a key for the future
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a support tool, capable of processing and analyzing data quickly and efficiently. With the rapid advancement of technology in today’s world, we can say AI is a daily thing, far from all those dystopian science fiction movies and series. Nowadays, it can even be considered as one of the most important tendencies in the business area.
Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Specific applications of AI include expert systems, natural language processing, speech recognition and machine vision.
More than a replacement for human intelligence and actions, AI is a support tool able to process and analyze data quickly and efficiently, with the aim of providing humans with synthesized information. Therefore, with the advance of new technologies, this kind of intelligence is becoming an issue of vital importance to maintain the competitiveness in companies.
AI can be applied in a wide range of processes, so with less effort, it is possible for companies to finish more chores, speed its workspace and, above all, move forward to achieve its goals. In the business sector, AI is already being used in many industries and functions: from customer support, through software to improve users’ experience, to financial areas, whose application in the banking area can be seen in daily tasks.
AI has no doubt a large list of benefits. However, we have detected an opportunity to understand and predict human behavior. Human behavior is influenced by multiple variables, which in some cases represent a risk when executing chores that demand high concentration levels or that require working in shift systems.
In this context, ITAA launches SOMNI, a digital platform to manage and reduce risks. SOMNI can reduce incidents; improve productivity and working welfare through artificial intelligence.
- Information digitization: a key tool to organize and analyze data.
- Critical security variables monitoring: integration of data and technology to incorporate the calculation of company indicators.
- Risks inherent to the human being management: SOMNI allows delimiting and predicting unwanted consequences, something fundamental to specify the decision-making process.
- Risk reduction program planning: SOMNI delivers solutions that guarantee the safety and absence of danger for workers and company through the execution of actionable protocols and the possibility of evaluating their evolution.
SOMNI is ITAA’s first step in turning the study of human beings with AI into a tool for industrial use, which allows companies and workers to benefit directly. We believe that the better we understand the human being, and the reason for their behavior, we will have a better place not only to work, but also to live.
Human fatigue in Transportation
An issue that can be quantified and managed.
Transportation accidents can be considered a daily thing in the mining industry. Although moderation and severity may change, transport -mainly by land- is a sector susceptible to accidents during the work day.
Causes are diverse and multifaceted, from bad protocol and monitoring design, failure to set proper control procedures to lack of supervision of safety measures. However, it is possible to find in all this causes a constant variable: human fatigue. It is present in 80% of truck accidents and responsible for 130 tragedies in Chile every year.
Human fatigue has a PBI annual cost of 2% and can be influenced by occupational, environmental, physiological, personal and social causes. Its effects have an impact on working pace, whose performance can decrease by 18% and concentration by 12%.
In addition, human fatigue has a tangible impact in the reduction of productivity, cost increase, property damage, legal consequences and reputation detriment. In Chile, a company that has high incident rates with fatal consequences can suffer the increase of compulsory insurance (up to 6.8% of total remuneration).
Through the study of human biological behavior, human fatigue can be managed before and after manifesting. This way, its risks can be reduced and fatal accidents can be prevented.
In this context, we launched SOMNI, a monitoring fatigue human management system that works by recollecting different variables such as health, sleep, working hours and behavior and it uses artificial intelligence controls.
- 30%- 40% less work incidents per year.
- Involvement of over 70% of workers.
- Increase of attentiveness and vigilance.
- Performance and productivity enhancements
Human fatigue is affecting your workforce and your business.
PREVENT this from happening by adopting SOMNI.
